Ascension #3

Ascension #3 arrives from Top Cow/Image in December 1997 with a cover by David Finch and Matt Banning that immediately establishes the series' dark, otherworldly tone. Dominating the composition are two winged, otherworldly figures — a pale, bat-winged warrior gripping a sword in the foreground and a towering dark-skinned figure looming behind him, holding what appears to be a glowing vial — both rendered in Finch's intricate, high-detail style against a sickly green atmosphere. If this issue is any indication of where the series is headed, fans of brooding supernatural fantasy have every reason to keep reading.
