Arion, Lord of Atlantis #7 brings the sorcerer-lord of ancient Atlantis front and center, his cape billowing dramatically as he channels magic against a glowing star-symbol overhead, while a fierce blue-haired warrior woman dual-wields curved blades beside him — both figures standing triumphant atop a writhing mass of defeated demonic creatures. The cover, penciled and inked by Jan Duursema, crackles with energy against that vivid yellow-orange backdrop, setting a fittingly mythic tone for the interior tale titled "Citadel of Sorcery!" This May 1983 DC series was finding its stride, and this issue makes a compelling visual case for Arion as one of fantasy comics' most visually striking heroes.
