Arion, Lord of Atlantis #14

Jan Duursema's cover for issue #14 pulls no punches: Arion is completely engulfed by a writhing swarm of purple, red-eyed demonic creatures, his mouth open in a desperate cry as their snapping jaws and clawing limbs press in from every direction. It's a viscerally unsettling image that makes the story title "Flight to Oblivion" feel entirely earned. If you've been following DC's ancient sorcerer-hero through 1983, this installment looks like one of his most harrowing tests yet.
