Archie's Pal Jughead #9
In "Inside Dope," Jughead’s well-intentioned prank goes hilariously awry when his scheme to sabotage Reggie’s football game performance backfires in the most unexpected way—leading to a messy mishap involving cement glue, a mistaken helmet, and a very unflattering hair loss. Written by Bob Montana and illustrated by George Frese, this 1951 classic captures the chaotic charm of Archie’s Pal Jughead with its signature mix of teenage rivalry, slapstick humor, and classic small-town antics. The cover by Bill Vigoda perfectly captures the comic’s lighthearted energy.

Archie and Reggie are competing to see who can score the most points in the football game, to get a date with Veronica. Jughead tries to help Archie by putting cement glue on the bench where Reggie will sit, but Coach sits in it. When Jughead hides the glue in a pile of helmets, Archie takes the helmet by accident. Archie wins the scoring contest but Veronica refuses to go with him due to the helmet removal taking his hair with it.
