The cover of this June 1964 issue says it all — Archie is behind the wheel of a rattling red jalopy, grinning with pride while a wide-eyed, panicking Jughead clutches the seat as the car's rear end literally falls apart in a shower of gears and smoke. Their speech bubbles deliver the punchline perfectly: Archie asks how Jughead likes the power, and Jughead's breathless reply about entering "the second stage" is the kind of deadpan comedy that makes this series such a delight.
