Archie's Joke Book Magazine #203

The cover of this December 1974 issue tells its own little joke in two panels: Archie announces to Pop (broom in hand outside Pop's Chocklit Shoppe) that he's been waiting for Veronica since five o'clock — then in the very next panel, the clock has barely moved and he's already caving, giving her "just two more hours!" It's a perfectly timed gag that captures Archie's hopeless devotion in a single glance, with Jughead lurking in the middle of it all. Archie's Joke Book Magazine was reliably delivering this kind of warm, lighthearted humor in 1974, and issue #203 looks like a fine example of the series at its cheerful best.
