Written by Dick Malmgren and lettered by Bill Yoshida, this classic 1992 slice of Riverdale life finds the boys outshined by the girls’ newfound skill, all captured in a vibrant cover by Dan Parent, Bill Golliher, and Alison Flood.
In "In a Lane Vein," Archie and Reggie, still riding high on their past bowling prowess, eagerly offer to teach Betty and Veronica a few tricks—only to quickly realize the tables have turned. Now outshining their former mentors, the girls take to the lanes with surprising skill, leaving the boys scrambling to keep up.
In "Court Escourt," Archie tries to lend a hand to Veronica during her tennis practice—only to discover her game is entirely automated, leaving him with nothing to do. Hoping for a more hands-on experience, he drifts over to Betty’s court, where things heat up in more ways than one.
Betty’s excited about inheriting money from an aunt, and Veronica, ever the connoisseur of wealth and privilege, immediately steps in to teach her the finer points of rich-girl behavior—complete with dramatic flair and a side of playful mockery.
In "Shipmates," Archie offers Mr. Weatherbee a ride in his boat to shake up his fishing luck, but when the motor sputters out, the principal surprises everyone with his unexpected knack for surviving on the water. A lighthearted mix of humor and unlikely teamwork unfolds as the two unlikely companions navigate a quiet moment on the lake.
In "Little Miss Fortune," Pepper insists today is her unlucky day—and with a series of increasingly absurd mishaps, she might be right. Her friends rally to shield her from bad luck, only to accidentally make things worse, turning a simple day into a chaotic chain of comedic misfortune.
When Mr. Lodge’s oil tanker springs a leak and the entire town turns against him, the usually unflappable businessman finds himself knee-deep in public outrage — and that’s before the environmentalists, the government, and even his own son start weighing in. It’s a messy situation, and with the spotlight hotter than ever, even the most polished PR move might not be enough to keep the oil slick from spreading.
In "Chance Encounter," Betty strikes up a conversation with a charming new boy at Riverdale High, setting off a playful rivalry when Veronica, determined to win his attention, resorts to a series of increasingly elaborate ruses to get close to him. Written by an unknown author and illustrated by an unknown artist, the story captures the classic teen dynamics of friendship, rivalry, and the unexpected turns of a schoolyard romance.
In "Rash Promise," Veronica tricks Archie into asking Betty out on a pity date—only to find the school moves the Fall Festival dance to that very night. Now stuck with her word, Veronica tries to convince Betty she’s too ill to go, banking on Betty’s trusting nature to save the day.
