“The Fears of a Clown”

Under the big top, Archie Andrews has traded his usual letterman look for full clown regalia — floppy hat, painted face, polka-dot costume and all — while Betty, Cheryl, and Veronica peer out from a trio of circular frames against a circus backdrop. The cover's tagline teases "Could It Be? Is Archie Juggling Another Love Showdown?", which feels perfectly at home in this cheerful carnival setting brought to life by cover artist Rex Lindsey. With a bonus Josie & the Pussycats manga story promised inside and the main tale titled "The Fears of a Clown," this 2006 issue delivers a fun, big-top twist on Riverdale's favorite romantic triangle.

The Pussycats play a gig at a retirement home to broaden their musical horizons. Alexandra offers to replace Alex as their manager, because she has more connections, and claims she could get them better gigs, but the Pussycats refuse. Alexandra then starts managing her own rival girl band, The Vixens. The other group is so bad The Pussycats take the stage.
