Tania del Rio
1979–
Tania del Rio (born November 16, 1979) is an American cartoonist best known for giving *Sabrina, the Teenage Witch* a shōjo manga makeover during her run as writer and artist from 2004 to 2009. Born in the United States, she earned a BFA in animation from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design. Her path into comics began when her manga entry *Lovesketch* was selected for TOKYOPOP's *Rising Stars of Manga* anthology, volume 2, in 2003. Del Rio's signature style blends Western storytelling with shōjo manga influences, and she often collaborates with artists like Will Staehle. Beyond Archie Comics—where she contributed to *Sonic the Hedgehog*, *Archie & Friends*, and *The Magic Within*—she co-created the illustrated novel trilogy *Warren the 13th* with Staehle, beginning with *The All-Seeing Eye* in 2015. In 2006, she founded SteelRiver Studio and published *Mangaka America*, a gallery and tutorial book spotlighting North American manga artists. Del Rio remains active in comics, with credits spanning 2004 to 2018 across 50 issues, including a *Spider-Man & Arana Special*. Her work has not received major awards but is recognized for pioneering manga-inspired comics in the American market.
