A secret is spreading fast in Riverdale — the cover by Dan Parent and Rudy Lapick shows the gang caught up in a chain of phone calls, with Veronica whispering to Midge, a bewildered blond boy listening in, and the gossip rippling down through Dilton, a girl in a party hat, Archie, Reggie, a curly-haired girl, and Betty — each on their own receiver, culminating in Betty's cheerful promise not to "tell a soul!" The banner up top teases a Sabrina appearance alongside the silhouette of a black cat, adding a little witchy intrigue to an already busy telephone tree. With the story titled "A Phoney Situation," this June 1994 issue looks like a fun, character-packed romp through the perils of keeping — or not keeping — a secret.
