“The Kid Who Wrecked Riverdale!”

In "The Kid Who Wrecked Riverdale!", a devoted Archie fan named Josh dreams his way into the comic book world of Riverdale, where his well-intentioned efforts to smooth over the gang’s squabbles lead to an unexpectedly bland version of the town. Realizing that the very conflicts he tried to fix are what make the stories compelling, Josh races back to set things right. Written by Angelo DeCesare and illustrated by Jeff Shultz, with inks by Al Milgrom and colors by Barry Grossman, this Free Comic Book Day 2003 special features cover art by Jeff Shultz and Henry Scarpelli.

Josh is a big fan of Archie comics who travels to Riverdale in his dreams. Once there, he helps Archie and the gang overcome their differences and they end up being very nice to each other. But when Josh wakes up and re-reads his latest Archie comic, he realizes that the characters' conflicts are what make the books interesting. Without them, Archie and the gang are very dull. Josh then returns to Riverdale to undo his "help".
