Archie at Riverdale High #59

Riverdale's sports scene is in full meltdown in this 1978 entry in the long-running series, and the cover makes the chaos delightfully clear — athletes in football, baseball, and basketball gear crowd a school hallway, lobbing complaints ("I quit!" "I'm not playing on this team!") at a coach and a very concerned Archie. The starburst promises that "The Delicate Disaster" brings Riverdale teams to total collapse, setting up what looks like a wonderfully madcap sports story to go along with the interior tale, "Tennis Bum!" Frank Doyle's script, Stan Goldberg's artwork, and the full creative team of D'Agostino, Grossman, and Yoshida give this issue the warm, energetic charm the series was known for.
