Archie at Riverdale High #49
☆ Be the first to review + Add to your collection — Join freeThis October 1977 issue sets up a genuinely creepy school-night mystery, with Archie and Chuck visibly rattled as they back away from a doorway where a shadowy, cloaked figure lurks in the darkness. The cover blurb tells us the two teens have walked into a supposedly empty Riverdale High only to become unwelcome guests of "The Prowler," and the boys' panicked expressions — Chuck sensing "a presence of some sort" — make the tension feel surprisingly real for an Archie title. Stan Goldberg's pencils and Jon D'Agostino's inks bring a fun spookiness to the hallways of Riverdale High that makes this first chapter of "The Prowler" a satisfying change of pace from the gang's usual hijinks.
