Alongside the lighthearted tales of school, soda shops, and springtime shenanigans, the volume also includes early appearances of superhero characters like The Shield and The Hangman, reflecting the publisher's wartime era output. In "Archie the Magician," Archie's misguided attempt to become a jockey after a casual comment from Jughead leads to a series of mishaps, including a visit from the eccentric Dr. Breakbone, a grueling workout, and a broken arm. Written and illustrated by Harry Sahle, with inks by Ginger, this classic tale from Archie Archives #2 (2016) captures the humor and heart of Riverdale’s most well-meaning teen, all while delivering a lighthearted twist on a whimsical premise. The cover by Harry Sahle complements the story’s playful tone.
