Archie Annual #9
☆ Be the first to review + Add to your collection — Join freeThe ninth edition of this oversized Archie Annual Yearbook arrives packed with all-new stories, and the cover sets the tone perfectly — Archie is dressed up as "Swami Andrews," peering into a crystal ball that reveals both Betty and Veronica, while a smirking Jughead (sporting a tiny fortune-teller's hat of his own) looks on from below. Harry Lucey's pencils bring real comedic energy to the scene, with Archie's wide-eyed expression and the speech bubble declaring "All Archie can see is TROUBLE!" summing up his eternal romantic predicament in one glance. At 25 cents for a big complete book, this 1957 annual is a cheerful, generous package of Riverdale fun.

Reggie tries to convince Archie that women like to be treated roughly. Archie and Veronica decide to trick Reggie with a stunt where Archie pretends to slap Veronica and Veronica claps her hands behind her back to provide a sound effect. They perform the stunt twice, knowing Reggie is hiding and watching. Reggie thinks that Archie did hit Veronica and decks Archie, thinking that will get him in good with her. Instead, Veronica decks him. Reggie now believes that girls do like the rough stuff, so when he sees Betty, he casually gives her a backhand slap. She responds with a fist to his face.
