“A Crowd of One”

Camp Wahoo sets the stage for some classic Riverdale comedy in this 1974 installment of Archie and Me. The cover walks us through a tense little drama: Archie and a fellow counselor watch wide-eyed as "the Bee" heads into the director's office to make what the cover promises is a big decision — and the bottom panel shows that bald-headed authority figure weighing a "YES/NO" sign with deliberate seriousness. It's the kind of warm, character-driven humor that made the Archie Series a staple of the spinner rack, brought to life here by writer Frank Doyle, artist Bob Bolling, and letterer Bill Yoshida.
