Aquaman #4
This 1962 issue of Aquaman's solo series promises an ambitious three-part novel pitting the King of the Seven Seas and Aqualad against a genuinely extraterrestrial threat. Nick Cardy's cover captures the peril vividly: Aquaman and Aqualad are trapped together inside a glowing alien energy bubble, while a green, helmet-clad alien crouches nearby aiming what appears to be a weapon — and the small water-sprite Quisp darts through the water just beyond the bubble's edge, apparently in the line of fire. It's a wonderfully dynamic setup that makes "The Menace of Alien Island" feel like something refreshingly beyond the usual undersea adventure.
