A well-meaning gesture by Daddy Warbucks leads to Annie's tearful admission that she believes her parents are still alive, so he launches a wide-ranging search for them. Rooster and Lily pretend to be the missing parents and Warbucks feels that he has to let Annie go with them. Annie's friends from the orphanage walk all the way uptown to Daddy's mansion to reveal the truth, and Annie and Sandy are rescued from a dangerous situation.
