Issue #2 of DC's Anima plunges readers straight into peril, with cover pencils by Malcolm Davis depicting the title character — a punk-styled young woman with wild blonde hair and green-tinted goggles — bound in rope, screaming, as a massive syringe looms threateningly close while unseen hands close in around her. It's a viscerally tense image that sets a dark, urgent tone for "False Dawn," written by Paul Witcover and Elizabeth Hand.
