This 2011 IDW installment of Angel presents a striking cover by Jenny Frison: a green-skinned, red-eyed woman with long flowing auburn hair stands dominant, gripping a large sword while holding a dark-clad, shirtless male figure inverted and seemingly unconscious at her feet — all set against an intricate lattice of curving lines that give the composition an almost ritualistic elegance. The power dynamic on display is immediate and unsettling, with the supernatural figure radiating cool menace over her captive. With David Tischman and Mariah Huehner scripting and Elena Casagrande on art duties, this chapter of Angel looks every bit as atmospheric as fans of the series have come to expect.
