American Gods #4

Neil Gaiman and P. Craig Russell's adaptation of American Gods rolls into its fourth chapter with a cover by Glenn Fabry that perfectly captures the story's collision of mythologies and modernity. A red convertible tears down a night road, carrying three passengers — including a woman with wind-whipped hair leaning out dramatically — while an array of monstrous ancient figures loom from the darkness on one side and neon-lit motels and city lights glow on the other. That tension between the primal and the contemporary, rendered with Fabry's richly detailed linework, makes this 2017 Dark Horse issue a genuinely striking artifact of the series.
