Neil Gaiman and P. Craig Russell's adaptation of American Gods reaches its third chapter with a genuinely unsettling cover by Glenn Fabry: a man sits bolt upright on a bed, wide-eyed and visibly shaken, as a pale, disheveled woman in a tattered purple dress approaches him from the shadows, her arms hanging in an eerily unnatural way. The dim bedroom setting — lit only by a warm bedside lamp — makes the encounter feel intimate and deeply wrong all at once. Scott Hampton's interior art promises the same atmospheric tension that Dark Horse Comics brought to this collaboration between Gaiman and Russell.
