Amazing X-Men #8

The "World War Wendigo" arc kicks off in grand, unsettling fashion with this 2014 issue — and Ed McGuinness's cover says everything you need to know about the scale of the threat. A lone figure, fist raised with adamantium claws extended, is nearly swallowed whole by a surging horde of snarling, clawing Wendigos that fill every inch of the image against a blood-red sky. Writers Craig Kyle and Chris Yost are clearly swinging for something bigger and wilder than a typical monster encounter, and with five parts ahead, this opening chapter promises the Amazing X-Men have their work cut out for them.
