Amazing Stories of Suspense #178
"Interplanetary Love" in Amazing Stories of Suspense #178 (1979) delivers a haunting, dreamlike journey from writer Joe Gill and artist Steve Ditko, whose distinctive pencils and inks bring a surreal edge to this tale of a test pilot who stumbles into a mysterious realm between life and death. When he encounters a Viking and a young woman outside his cockpit, he’s drawn into a world where reality blurs and the line between dream and the afterlife is perilously thin. Cover by Steve Ditko captures the story’s eerie, otherworldly tone with its stark, atmospheric visuals.

A test pilot sees a viking sailor and a young woman standing outside his cockpit. He exits his plane to speak with them. The viking tells him that he has entered a "dreamer's world," where people like him end up when they die. The woman protests that she's not dead, and the pilot realizes that she must be in trouble in the real world. The pilot grabs her by the hand and the two of them make a break for the jet cockpit. Once he lands, she is nowhere in sight, but he finds her passed out in a room of dangerous smoldering chemicals. She revives and recognizes him as the man from her vision.
