Amazing Spider-Man Vol. 4 #7 (April 2016) is the second chapter of the 'Dark Kingdom' arc — the first extended multi-part story of Dan Slott's post-Secret Wars 'Worldwide' volume — and the issue in which the arc's central dramatic engine is revealed: because Mister Negative had already inverted Peter Parker years earlier during the Dark Reign era, his corrupting touch cannot work on Peter a second time, letting Spider-Man play the double agent rather than become one more mind-controlled hero. Writer Dan Slott launched Amazing Spider-Man Vol. 4 — branded under the 'All-New, All-Different Marvel' initiative — in late 2015 following the conclusion of the Secret Wars event, repositioning Peter Parker as the globe-trotting CEO of a technology company, Parker Industries, with offices in New York, Shanghai, London, and San Francisco. Issue #7 was the second installment of 'The Dark Kingdom,' the first proper multi-issue arc of that volume, with interior art by Matteo Buffagni, colors by Marte Gracia, and a painted cover by Alex Ross; editor Nick Lowe and associate editor Devin Lewis oversaw the issue under editor-in-chief Axel Alonso.
