"Part 1: The Conqueror" in Amazing Mystery Funnies #7 (1939) kicks off a gritty crime saga with Bill Everett writing and drawing every panel—his sharp, dynamic style bringing to life a tense mystery at the Cicero Warehouse. When Bob and Micky uncover a dying drug dealer muttering "C-20," they follow the clue to a scow where Rita May, the sister of the deceased, has already taken violent justice into her own hands. Paul Gustavson’s cover captures the chaos, as Dutch Silver’s gang arrives, setting the stage for a showdown that leaves no one safe.

While investigating a murder at the Cicero Warehouse, Bob and Micky are led to a dying dope peddler who keeps repeating "C-20", and Bob realizes that it is the number of a scow located nearby. Therein are discovered gang members dead or dying at the hands of Rita May, the drug peddler's sister, who she felt had ruined her sister. As the tale unfolds, Dutch Silver, whose gang brings the drugs into the area, arrives on the scene and there is a shootout.
