“Chapter 6”

"Chapter 6" in Amazing Mystery Funnies #22 (1940) delivers a wild interplanetary chase as Nick and Kodi intercept Jol's Gambling Palace mid-flight near the Moon—far from its usual orbit around Venus. With a rogues' gallery of alien criminals aboard, including Martian bandits and a Saturnian smuggler, the duo springs into action, leaving Jol to escape while summoning reinforcements from the Space Patrol. Written and illustrated by the singular Basil Wolverton, this pulpy sci-fi adventure features dynamic art and a zany, high-stakes premise, all framed by Paul Gustavson’s vivid cover.

Flying close to the Moon, Nick and Kodi spot Jol's Gambling Palace, which is usually anchored near Venus. Crossing over and boarding the vessel, Nick spies two Martian space bandits, wanted for murder, a Saturnian drug smuggler, a Mercurian thief, and other unsavory characters. Jol escapes, but Kodi radios for additional Space Patrol cruisers to arrest the criminals.
