From Dell's January–March 1964 run, this cheerful issue finds Alvin scrambling up a ladder with hammer and chisel in hand, energetically chipping away at a large stone sculpture while Dave and the other Chipmunks look on with a mix of concern and amusement below. It's a wonderfully silly cover scene that captures Alvin's signature overconfident enthusiasm perfectly — rubble already scattered at the base suggests things may not be going entirely to plan. Fans of the animated Chipmunks will find this 12-cent Dell gem a delightful snapshot of the gang in full cartoon form.
