A fishing trip goes hilariously sideways on this 1963 Dell cover, where Alvin sits triumphantly on a dock — completely unaware that the enormous, grinning fish looming behind him has apparently stolen his hook, leaving his bent rod dripping and his line empty. Simon and Theodore watch nervously from the far end of the pier, fishing poles in hand, as the smug green behemoth props itself up like it owns the place. It's a wonderfully charming snapshot of Alvin's signature oblivious confidence, and with Jack Mendelsohn on writing duties, the fun continues inside.
