Alvin is taking his artistic ambitions to new heights — literally — as this Dell cover finds the red-hooded chipmunk perched on a ladder, hammer and chisel in hand, hard at work chipping away at an enormous stone sculpture. Below him, two worried-looking onlookers (one of them sporting familiar glasses) watch the flying chips with obvious concern. It's a cheerful snapshot of Alvin's boundless confidence in 1972, and a fine reminder of why Dell's humor comics had such warm, winning appeal.
