The Atom has saved the lives of many workers in a coal mine, when the roof caves in on top of him. As he lay there, his mind goes back when a JJSA member tells him about the "killer mine" that the miners refuse to enter. A Nazi newcomer spreads propaganda that the mine owner has not adding safety features in the mines...but the Atom refutes that claim. The Atom kicks the guy out of camp, takes miners down himself to prove that the mine has safety features. When other fifth columnists sabotage the mine, the Atom digs his way out, and collects evidence against the men who rigged the accidents.
