“Strange Doors That We Never Closed Again”

The second chapter of this six-part WildStorm miniseries brings together Alan Moore, Leah Moore, and John Reppion for a love letter to British comics history, with interior art by Shane Oakley and George Freeman. Dave Gibbons's cover sets a suitably unsettling mood: a young woman in a beret crouches at the center of the composition, bathed in eerie green light, while two hulking shadowed figures loom on either side, dark tendrils snaking around her. Subtitled "Penny Dreadful," this issue promises the kind of atmospheric tension that the Union Jack-emblazoned Albion logo hints at — something deeply, distinctly British.
