“The Story of Lennie Sholes”

In "The Story of Lennie Sholes," Dan Barry's art brings to life a mythic twist on the struggle between divine forces, as Jupiter warns Ceres of growing discord among the Roman Gods. With the Heap as a pivotal figure, Ceres sees a chance to reshape him into a guardian of the animal kingdom—potentially turning him into a force for good on Earth, countering the chaos fueled by Mars. The cover by Carmine Infantino captures the mythic tension of this celestial intrigue.

At the Council of the Roman Gods, Jupiter notes that there is jealousy among the council members and advises Ceres that The Heap is her key to the animal kingdom, and, that if she could lure him into her world, she could make him into one of her creatures. If that succeeds, then the Heap could become a force for good on the Earth and thereby undo some of the evil that Mars forments on that plane.
