“The Kidnapping of Bonnie Easter”

In "The Kidnapping of Bonnie Easter," Scratch, desperate to settle his boss Mr. Keats’ debts, gambles away a $10,000 payoff and flees to Rickie Woods’ home under false pretenses. When the Heap appears, Scratch sees a chance to claim the $20,000 reward—either by capturing or killing the creature—turning his desperation into a dangerous gamble. Written by Bill Woolfolk and illustrated by Arthur Peddy, with inks by Bernard Sachs and coloring by Woolfolk, this 1947 Hillman classic blends pulp tension with early superhero intrigue, all wrapped in a cover by Peddy and Sachs.
