The third chapter of Skottie Young and Jorge Corona's supernatural western arrives with one of 2024's most quietly unsettling covers — a ringed hand clutches an ace of hearts playing card bearing the image of a white-haired figure, while lush, overgrown florals and a partially visible face loom in the murky background. Corona's linework and Jean-François Beaulieu's rich purples and pinks give the whole composition a hothouse tension, equal parts beauty and menace. "Bargaining" promises exactly the kind of high-stakes, otherworldly deal-making that the title and imagery so compellingly suggest.
