Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. #5
Spider-Man crouches in the foreground against a Shanghai skyline, while three S.H.I.E.L.D. agents dangle upside-down above him — webbed and apparently at his mercy — in this eye-catching cover by Mike Norton. The bold tagline "Snared by the Amazing Spider-Man?!" sets up a delightful tension between Earth's Mightiest spy agency and one of Marvel's most beloved wall-crawlers. Writer Marc Guggenheim and artist Germán Peralta bring the fifth chapter of "The Coulson Protocols" to an exotic international setting, promising plenty of intrigue halfway through this 2016 series.

Coulson is captured by Grant Ward, who has been the man in the old Iron Man armor we've seen in previous issues. Deathlok learns that Jemma is dying of a disease. The team sets out to rescue Coulson. In Japan, an unknown man in the same armor as Grant Ward attacks and almost kills Spider-Man, until he is saved by Mockingbird and May. Grant Ward reveals to Hydra that he has an army of Iron Men who all have the Coulson protocols built-in. In flashback, we see Ward, as an agent of S.H.I.E.L.D., going undercover in Hydra, and being turned.
