Few images in 2001 Superman comics carry quite this much charged irony: Mike Miller's cover shows a tuxedo-clad Lex Luthor shaking hands with Superman at a presidential podium, the American flag spreading behind them and a "Vote Lex 2000" badge prominently displayed in the corner. The phrase "The American Way" emblazoned on the podium adds a sharp, knowing edge to the uneasy truce on display. With J. M. DeMatteis scripting and Miller's clean linework inside, this issue promises a story where politics and super-heroics collide in genuinely compelling fashion.
