“Redemption!”

Titled "Turmoil!" right on the cover, this July 1989 installment of Adventures of Superman bursts with kinetic energy as a heavily armored, weapon-wielding figure clashes with a dark-haired woman in mid-air combat against a crumbling brick wall — while Superman himself watches from the upper corner, cape billowing. Jerry Ordway's cover art (both pencils and inks) sells the chaos beautifully, with sparking machinery, blasting exhaust, and debris flying in every direction. With a creative team including Dan Jurgens and Art Thibert bringing the interior story "Redemption!" to life, this is a satisfying slice of late-'80s Superman storytelling at its most energetic.
