"The Devil's Disciple" tells of a man born in Madrid in 1542 who has lived for 400 years, cursed to walk the earth in eternal torment as punishment for his sins, visited by the ghost of Father Ramón who condemns him to know neither rest nor peace. Another story features Professor Kendall and Dr. Warren developing a robot controlled by a serum injection, which goes haywire when a new serum formula causes it to become dangerous and half-human, leading to a climactic confrontation where the creature is destroyed by police. The issue also includes "The Devil's Disciple," in which a character reflects on a mysterious diary belonging to Hester Prince, a great-great-great-aunt who feared some unseen evil.
In the remote Pyrenees, young George Tellier and his professor take refuge at the mysterious Chateau of Byrn after rescuing a woman named Jeanne Calleau from a deadly fall—only to find her miraculously unharmed. As George grows closer to Jeanne, tensions rise when the household's major-domo, Briot, confesses his love, leading to a violent confrontation that ends in Briot’s gruesome death at the claws of a monstrous bat. Now, with the creature’s path clearly leading toward Jeanne, George must confront the terrifying truth behind the beast and the secrets of the chateau.
In the eerie confines of the Occult Institute, Professor Kendall is confronted by Juan Delbourgo, a man who claims to have lived for four centuries and is, in fact, a dead man who cannot die. As Delbourgo proves his immortality through impossible feats, Kendall is forced to confront the terrifying truth: Delbourgo is cursed, and his dark past is far from over. When Delbourgo reappears with a shocking revelation involving Kendall’s daughter, the professor must decide whether to face the supernatural or risk losing everything he holds dear.
In the mystical island of Bali, ancient superstitions come alive at midnight, where spirits of the dead are judged by Durga, and fearsome demons like the Buta, Leyaks, and the dreaded Rangda are said to roam. As eerie lights flicker at crossroads and phantom laughter echoes through the dark, the islanders live in dread of these imagined horrors—real to them, whether true or not.
In a 1949 tale of mystery and ancient secrets, a group of university students led by young Professor Bill Sauvage ventures into the Southwest in search of the fabled lost city of Torreans, guided only by eerie legends and a sudden, inexplicable intuition that grips Sauvage himself. As they near the hidden valley, they encounter supernatural barriers and ghostly visions—echoes of a tragic past involving a doomed Spanish soldier, a vengeful Indian maiden, and a curse that defies time.
When Jo discovers her great-great-great-aunt Hester Prince’s diary, she’s drawn into a chilling mystery that mirrors her own longing for love—only to find herself haunted by a series of inexplicable accidents that seem to follow her after reading the pages. As she begins to suspect the diary’s dark legacy is reaching across time, she’s forced to confront the terrifying possibility that a pact made centuries ago may be binding her to a fate she never chose.
