“The Girl of Steel”

In "The Girl of Steel," Lana Lang takes on a daring new role when she dons an alien-powered belt brought back by Professor Lang, transforming into Sky Girl with anti-gravity and anti-magnetic abilities. Written by Jerry Coleman and illustrated by John Sikela, this 1953 Adventure Comics tale sees Superboy using Lana’s new powers as a playful way to return the favor for her past snooping—leading to a clever, high-flying twist that hinges on a tiny, super-compressed pebble. Win Mortimer’s dynamic cover captures the moment of transformation, setting the stage for a story that blends superhero antics with the quiet intimacy of a next-door neighbor’s secret.

Professor Lang returns from an island like Easter Island with a belt that incorporates alien technology. Lana Lang dons the anti-magnetic and anti-gravity belt to become Sky Girl. Superboy uses Lana's new super-powered identity as a chance to pay Lana back for her secret-identity snooping. In the end Superboy gives Lana a super-compressed pebble with HIS secret identity written in small letters on it. When Lana sets down the pebble the resulting crash alerts Superboy to Lana's dual identity. After all, she does live next door.
