Action Comics #893
In "The Black Ring Part Four," Lex Luthor and his team race across the globe to claim a mysterious energy source, now in Uganda, where they're shadowed by the cunning Gorilla Grodd. When Grodd's apes seize RoboLois and he launches a brutal assault—beheading Luthor only to discover the head is a decoy—the true threat unfolds as Luthor infiltrates Grodd’s stronghold to seize the Black Ring. With a chopper escape and a final, desperate shot from Grodd’s raygun, the fate of Luthor hangs in the balance. Written by Paul Cornell and illustrated by Sean Chen, with inks by Wayne Faucher, colors by Brad Anderson, and letters by Rob Leigh, the cover by David Finch and Richard Friend captures the chaos in bold, striking detail.

Luthor and his team continue their quest for the Black Ring energy, this time to Uganda, where they are being monitored by Gorilla Grodd. Grodd sends his apes to kidnap RoboLois, discovering she's a robot. He then attacks the team directly, beheading Luthor with his combat spoon and eating his head; but he finds it's another robot. Instead, Luthor has infiltrated Grodd's headquarters, where a black sphere is. After getting what they want, they escape in a chopper, but Grodd returns in time to shoot Luthor with a raygun rifle, and Luthor falls to a likely death.
