Action Comics #715

The cover of this 1995 issue says it all — the massive, fang-filled maw of the Parasite looms over Superman as the Man of Steel strains with both hands to force the creature's jaws apart, his expression locked in desperate effort. It's a viscerally effective image from cover penciler Kieron Dwyer and inker Denis Rodier, capturing just how physically overwhelming this particular villain can be. With David Michelinie writing and Gil Kane on interior art, Action Comics #715 looks like a genuinely tense showdown between Superman and one of his more unsettling foes.
