Action Comics #470
☆ Be the first to review + Add to your collection — Join freeThe cover of this April 1977 DC issue poses a delicious puzzle: a figure in Superman's costume delivers a fierce flying punch to Terra-Man — yet a gravestone in the foreground boldly reads "R.I.P. Superman Killed by Terra-Man 1977," while the cover copy demands, "Hold it! If THIS is Superman — who is this?" García-López and Oksner set the scene in a storm-swept cemetery, with mourners in the background and a stone fist bursting dramatically from the earth, making the mystery feel genuinely urgent. With Cary Swan on interiors and Cary Bates writing, this is a wonderfully crafted 30-cent package that wraps a compelling identity question around one of Superman's most colorful western-themed adversaries.

Following the death of Superman, Flash battles Terra-Man. But soon we learn that Terra-Man is actually Superman, who has been transformed into Terra-Man. Superman soon learns that an alien wants Terra-Man dead, so Terra-Man put Superman in his place. With the help of Superman actor Gregory Reed, Superman is able to trick Terra-Man into coming out of hiding. Green Lantern helped the Flash simulate super-powers for Reed.
