Action Comics #424
☆ Be the first to review + Add to your collection — Join freeAction Comics #424 (June 1973) delivers one of the more delightfully bizarre cover images of the era: Nick Cardy's art shows a snarling Gorilla Grodd perched atop a skyscraper high above a city, tangled in what appears to be a giant web or net that has ensnared multiple Supermen — several identical figures in the familiar blue-and-red uniform struggling against the trap. The story, "Gorilla Grodd's Grandstand Play!" by Elliot Maggin with art by Curt Swan and Murphy Anderson, promises Superman up against one of his most cunning animal adversaries, and the cover makes a strong case that Grodd has come prepared. As a bonus, Green Arrow also appears in this issue, making it a solid double-feature from DC's 1973 lineup.
