Abe Sapien #2

Spinning out of the pages of Hellboy, this 2013 Dark Horse series puts the amphibious Abe Sapien front and center in his own dark corner of the Mignolaverse. Sebastián Fiumara's cover art captures the character in an unsettling crouch — glowing pale eyes, scaled skin rendered in deep shadow, and a human skull resting on the rubble-strewn floor beside him — all of it colored with characteristic moodiness by Dave Stewart. With Mike Mignola and Scott Allie on the writing side and a story titled "Dark and Terrible," issue #2 promises exactly the atmospheric dread that image delivers.
