3 Floyds: Alpha King #2
Simon Bisley's cover for this second issue doesn't ease up for a moment — a massive, green-skinned, fang-baring warrior fills the frame, blood-streaked and battle-worn, with a skull perched atop his head, a sword and what appears to be a paintbrush-like weapon crossing before his face, and a severed eyeball dangling at the left edge. It's the kind of visceral, over-the-top fantasy imagery that Bisley has always excelled at, rendered here with gloriously grotesque detail. With Azzarello and Floyd also on the creative team, this 2016 Image series — a collaboration with craft brewery 3 Floyds — is one of the more wildly original genre mashups to hit shelves that year.
