The Christmas issue of 2000 AD and Tornado arrives with a twisted seasonal greeting: a skeletal, ghoulish Santa Claus brandishes a gun and levels a menacing "Merry Christmas, Tharg — here's your present!" at the enormous green alien face of Tharg the Mighty, rendered in unsettling close-up beside him. Carlos Ezquerra's cover art turns the festive season delightfully sinister, perfectly capturing the galaxy's favourite weekly prog at its irreverent best. A "thrill-powered Christmas to all Earthlets" indeed — Prog 145 from 29 December 1979 is seasonal warmth delivered with a satisfying science-fiction edge.
