2000 AD and Starlord #88

Prog 88 of 2000 AD and Starlord arrives in October 1978 dressed up as a gloriously cheeky movie poster, with cover art by Kevin O'Neill presenting "Yesterday's Hero" — starring Hammer-Stein, the battle-scarred war robot, alongside a cast of thousands doing their level best to stop the Volgans. The mock-Hollywood treatment, complete with breathless fake critic quotes, a skull, explosions, and a menacing green robot chomping away in the corner, is a wonderfully inventive piece of comics showmanship. At 10p Earth Money, this is the weekly anthology at its most playful and inventive.
