Prog 428 of 2000 AD hits newsstands in July 1985 with a cover by Cam Kennedy that's hard to miss — a massive, moon-faced figure looms in the background while two airborne fighters clash mid-flight, with a third figure surfing in on a skyhog in the distance and the urgent tagline "Ground Those Skyhogs!" blazing across the bottom. The headline "Supersurf Rules Okeydokey!" sets a wonderfully anarchic tone that only 2000 AD could pull off with a straight face. Inside, Alan Grant writes and Carlos Ezquerra illustrates "The Slavers of Drule, Part 4: The Fate of the Fat!" — a title that promises exactly the kind of gleefully unhinged storytelling this weekly does best.
