Photos: De Havillands ODAY Opportunities in aviation are greater and more varied than they have ever been. Given a reasonable standard of general education, a young man can join one of the mammoth aircraft firms and actually be paid while he is learning his job! The training takes about five years, but considering that it starts normally at the age of seventeen, the apprentice is still only about twenty-two when he becomes fully qualified.
